Made it today. Tastes JUST like it (now if only I knew how to deep fry a wing better). Was too good not to share. So here you are:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winger’s Amazing Sauce Knock-off
Ingredients
1 1/2 C. Brown Sugar
4 Tbsp. water
4 Tbsp. honey
6 tbsp. Franks Red Hot Wings Buffalo hot sauce- you can add more if you like a lot of heat. And Yes…it has to be Franks.
8-10 Chicken wings or Strips
After removing chicken from oven, place chicken in sauce and coat thoroughly; remove with a slotted spoon and place onto cookie sheet (covered with foil). Return coated chicken to oven and bake at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes.
Remove and enjoy!
Directions: Cook chicken according to package directions. While chicken is baking, combine sugar, water, honey and hot sauce in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat. Continue boiling for about 5 to 10 minutes to ensure sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE from Jenner: (Beware... mine came out a little heavy on the honey taste, but I think I added too much because of adding it tablespoon by tablespoon... you know that sticky overflow that happens. I added a tablespoon more hot sauce to correct it and it was great. I think I also boiled mine too long... mine was like syrup almost...still tasty). YUM!!!

Oooh--you know how I love your recipes. I'm definitely trying this!
ReplyDeleteUpdate:
ReplyDeleteI like the balance of this version better. Still is satisfyingly sweey without an overpowering honey taste. And is much spicier (therefore BETTER) :)
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. water
2 Tbsp. honey
3/4 plus 1 Tbsp. Red's Hot Sauce
Only boil until sugar dissolves.
That's 3/4 CUP + 1 Tbsp. of the Red's hot Sauce
