Dora... dora... dora...

Jane is, well, obsessed with Dora the Explorer.  I honestly believe she would watch it from sun up to sun down if we let her.  I knew it was bad the day that Jane pointed to a picture of a volcano, and said "Cano."  My heart fluttered.  What a smart little girl I have, I thought.  I assumed Mike must have taught my future member of Mensa the word, but no, the girl with the football-shaped head did.

Our mornings now consist of  Jane running me the remote, shouting "Ree-ra" and running back to the couch, where she sits...waiting...staring...at the blank TV screen.  It's a phase.  I tell myself.  Oh, PLEASE, let it be a phase.



Maybe I should count myself lucky.  A girl with a football head is better than a creepy, purple dinosaur anyday.

Counting to 20...

Me:  We have to leave in 20 minutes, Mace.
Macy:  I can count to 20!
Me:  Awesome. Let's hear it!
Macy:  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, firteen, 14, 14, 19 (furrowed brow) 9....8.... (exasperated) ... it takes too long to get to 20.
