Jumping Rope with Emma

I finally got a magazine story officially accepted by Friend magazine (I've submitted twice to them before with no luck).

The story is called "Jumping Rope with Emma" based on an experience I had as a kid, inviting a less active girl I knew from school to come to church with me.  It's nothing fancy, but must have fit their need.

Not sure when it will be published, but I'll keep you up to date!

She Graduated....

from elementary school!!!

Way to go Ali!  What a fun, wonderful gal!  Love you!

I'll take that as a Yes

Macy grabs the stuffed white bunny from Jane's arms.  Jane tugs it back.

"Jane,"  Macy crouches down to Jane's eye level, her voice sticky sweet,  "Can I sleep with your bunny in my bed tonight?"  Without waiting for a reply she snags the bunny out of Jane's arms again.

Jane's face explodes in a curdling scream as she melts to floor.  Macy stares at the eye-scrunched, red-faced heap on the floor, then in the same calm voice says, "I'll take that as a yes."

Lightning in Austin

Just a minute or two of a cool lightning storm here. Not nearly as cool in this video from my backyard as it was driving Ali's friend home. The sky was playing a little dueling banjos. One side would flash, then the other. You could see the bolts of lightning burst behind the clouds. Very cool.

No rain. No Thunder. I could watch it all night.

Flour Girl

Jane loves our flour bucket.

I do not love that Jane loves our flour bucket.

Cole's 3rd Grade Talent Show

Cole wanted to try out for the talent show to get over his fear of performing in front of people. We let him try out thinking it would be good for him, trying to prep him that they may not let someone perform that was singing along with a CD, but they did!

He's thrilled. He was VERY nervous, which made him very quiet. But listen at the chorus... you'll hear him. So proud of you, Cole!

Cole and his friend Ross (A peppy version of Cole)

Living Museum

Cole's third grade class did a "Living Museum." They researched an inventor and dressed up like them, then parents got to walk around the room, push the "button" on their desk and they spouted off a short paragraph about themselves.

Cole was Fusajiro Yamauchi, the founder of Nintendo. Looks like we mixed up his costume and dressed him like the inventors son in-law (minus the gray, slicked back hair... like Cole's hair would ever stay that way).

(so don't be alarmed if you hear Cole say he was born in the 1850's in this video).

It was loud, and Cole is quiet. So good luck hearing him :)

Wheezer

Nope.  Not that Weezer.

Cole was diagnosed with asthma today.  Pretty mild case of it (9 years of rarely needing to be medicated), but nice to have an explanation to his random coughing.

If you were really hoping to hear some Weezer... here you go:

Mother's Day 2011

Here's some pics from Mother's Day.  I love being spoiled :)
But I hate getting my picture taken.
Here's some of the few you'll get of me until next year.

How many times to I have to ask you...???

Macy and I had the following conversation after having asked her for the fourth time to not play with her balloon in front of the movie that the family was trying to watch.

ME:  Seriously, Mace?  How many times do I have to ask you to not play with that in front of the TV?
MACY:  34 times.

Hide and Seek with Jane

Yes.  She's hiding under a bucket.

Fifi will never find me here.

Ward Easter Egg Hunt

Just founds these pics on my camera.  It's our wards Easter egg hunt at a community park near our home.  Ali was home sick that day with an awful stomach bug that seemed to hit a new kid each weekend for a month.  Yuck.

I asked her to smile.  This is what I got.

Eew.  Some of the eggs with jelly beans inside had ants too.  Yuck!
